Programmes on Rugby Hospital Radio
We currently broadcast 28 hours per week: three hours on weekday evenings, plus Saturday and Sunday mornings and an early start on Sunday evening. Around 20 members regularly contribute to the schedule and the vast majority of the programmes are broadcast live.
The programmes range from requests to general 'music and chat' as well as more specialist shows covering music such as classical, country and jazz, as well as the occasional one-off documentary or themed show.
News broadcasts are featured regularly throughout the schedule.
We are particularly proud of our request programmes, which involve at least two wards, every day of the week. This includes Christmas Day!
Our request team collects and plays around 300 requests each month.
Programmes on Rugby Hospital Radio are broadcast from our purpose built studio in the Victorian block of St.Cross Hospital and relayed via the patientline network. Patientline services bring radio, television and telephones to every bed at St.Cross Hospital (except Mulberry ward).
This offers unlimited opportunity for patients to call Rugby Hospital Radio for free, while hearing us in stereo, all courtesy of Patientline.
