Dream Lover Wins Gold!
Rugby Hospital Radio won its first ever national award the 2005 Hospital
Broadcasting Association (HBA) Awards, which took place in April 2005 at the
Europa Hotel in Belfast.
Iain Smith came joint first in his category, taking home a Gold Award for
Best Specialist Music programme for his documentary "Dream Lover, Mack The
Knife & Things - The Bobby Darin Story", which he produced and presented.
Iain has been a member of Rugby Hospital Radio since 1981 and is the
station's longest serving request collector, having visited the wards almost
every week during that time. However, this was the first time he had entered
the national awards.
Following in his fathers footsteps is son Phil who is also an award winning member of Rugby Hospital Radio with his weekly series Elvis Uncharted.
