About Rugby Hospital Radio
Rugby Hospital Radio is an independent charity providing the internal radio service to the patients at the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby, Warwickshire.
Rugby Hospital Radio broadcast a schedule of programmes on every day of the week, including a patients' request programme. The requests are collected by volunteer members, who visit the wards each day to meet patients. All members also assist in fund-raising to maintain the service.
Rugby Hospital Radio Crowned Gold with Elvis Uncharted at the Hospital Broadcasting Association Awards Gala.
During 2006 several members of Rugby Hospital Radio received Long Service Awards from the Hospital Broadcasting Association.
2006 also saw Rugby Hospital Radio launch a 24 Hour broadcasting service. This was due to the success of a Marathon broadcast held during 2005.
Also in 2005, Rugby Hospital Radio had earlier received accolade from the Hospital Broadcasting Association, when Dream Lover Won Gold.
As with many hospital radio stations Rugby Hospital Radio has come a long way since our formation in 1972 and the positive comments and letters we receive from patients, their families and friends confirm the true value of our service. View the full message from the Chairman.
Programmes on Rugby Hospital Radio are broadcast from our purpose built studio located within St.Cross Hospital in Rugby.
We take pride in our daily request progammes, especially when Rugby Hospital Radio member Chris Wade visits the wards at the Hospital of St Cross accompanied by his guide dog Victor
