Rugby Hospital Radio

Welcome to Rugby Hospital Radio

Firstly, thank you for taking time to visit our website - we hope you will find it of interest.

As with many hospital radio stations, Rugby Hospital Radio has come a long way since our formation in 1972 and the positive comments and letters we receive from patients, their families and friends confirm the true value of our service.

The amalgamation with Coventry's Walsgrave Hospital Trust saw the relocation to Coventry of all General Surgery; Paediatrics and Maternity services, which meant that the average age of our listeners rose considerably.

This, in turn, presented a real challenge to our younger presenters who suddenly had to acquaint themselves with a much older style of music. We are proud to say that this challenge was enthusiastically embraced and has proved most successful.

In 2004 it was time to welcome the installation of Patientline.

This advanced TV, Radio and Telephone system allows us to broadcast in stereo and also permits our listeners to phone their requests and comments directly to our studio without having to leave their bed.

From our side of the microphone, we are starting to embrace the idea of 24 hour broadcasting and to this end have already built up a sizeable database of music.

It will be no small task to build an archive of music, comedy and drama of a size sufficient to fill two to three weeks without undue repetition so if you have any quality programmes you feel suitable and are prepared to share them with us, we would be glad to hear from you.
